The police submitted an interim charge-sheet in an Islamabad court in the blasphemy case against Christian girl, Rimsha Masih on Saturday.
The civil judge, Amir Aziz Khan, who had been hearing the case, had gone on leave. The case could not be heard because he wasn’t present.
The charge sheet was submitted in the court of district and sessions judge Islamabad Raja Jawad Abbas.
The district attorney raised objections on certain points in the charge sheet, which he noted in a note of objections and attached it to the charge sheet after signing it.
Earlier, Civil Judge Muhammad Amir Aziz was irked over the inordinate delay in the presentation of the charge-sheet by investigation officer Munir Jaffri. The court directed the Superintendent of Police to submit it.
Rimsha was arrested in a poor suburb of Islamabad on August 16 after a neighbour accused her of burning papers containing verses from holy Quran.
On September 7, the court had granted bail to Rimsha against two surety bonds of Rs500,000 each. She was then transported by a helicopter to an undisclosed location after her release from jail.
