The decision to increase the prices of petroleum has been approved the notification of which would be issued by OGRA later today. The new prices would be effective midnight tonight.
The approval to increase the prices of all petroleum products except diesel is given.
According to Ministry of Petroleum the price of petroleum would be increased by Rs 1.41 a litre while the prices of High Octane and kerosene oil would go up by Rs 5.64 and Rs 1.94 a litre respectively.
The pump price of diesel would remain unchanged at Rs 97.21 a litre.
After the increase a litre of petrol would cost Rs 85.90; high octane Rs 112.52 and kerosene oil Rs 88.19 a litre.
Sources say that the ministry of finance rejected OGRA's summary which called for keeping the petroleum prices at the previous level by slashing petroleum levy.
