Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the situation in certain areas Balochistan is bad but the unrest in these areas that make up a small portion of the province could not be called turmoil.
However, he added, if this situation is not tackled immediately it could negatively impact the other areas of Balochistan, he added.
Addressing intellectuals and scholars at a National Workshop at National Defence University the PM asked the stake holders to keep in mind the greater national interest. It is not only about Balochistan but in reality is the future of the people of Pakistan which is at stake presently, he added.
The PM asked the people not to get influenced by the propaganda of foreign media regarding Blochistan because it is blowing up the issue.
The people of Balochistan are as peace-loving and patriotic as the people of other provinces, he said adding that Balochistan is an internal matter of the state of Pakistan which could be solved by Pakistanis themselves.
The PM said that the sectarian killings in Balochistan should be viewed in the backdrop of geo-political realities of the region. Sectarianism could be a reality in Balochistan but I am sure that non-state elements and groups feeding on foreign aid are also active, he said.
We should watch these elements and groups strictly, he added.
