PM orders targeted operation in Quetta

Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Tuesday ordered a targeted operation in Quetta against terrorists.

The Prime Minister’s order comes after the intense pressure from the Supreme Court and the countrywide protests.

The operation is said to be starting from today.

A six-member parliamentary group, led by Qamar Zaman Kaira, arrived in Quetta in a short while ago to determine the details of the bombings and to convince the survivors and victims to bury their dead.

Earlier today, Chief Justice said, “action should have been taken against Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) long time ago.”

In rapid response, PM Ashraf directed officials to change IG Balochistan Tariq Umer Khattab.

Other political parties such as Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and others have termed the government incompetent and demanded swift action.

Hazaras have been demanding a targeted operation against those propagating sectarian violence in Balochistan, since the last Quetta bombing on Alumdar road last year.
