Two blasts, one after the other, at busy Hydri area in North Nazimabad district of Karachi killed 7 persons and injured 18 others. Hydri Market area of Karachi.
A woman and a girl are among the dead.
The blasts were so loud that they were heard a good distance away.
Rescue teams have started arriving on the spot and injured are being shifted to hospitals.
A large number of women and children are among the injured.
According to police the explosions took place in a vehicle.
According to eye witnesses the explosions took place one after the other.
Emergency has been declared at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Police and Rangers have cordonned off the site of the explosions. Bomb Disposal squad has reached the area to collect the evidences.
According to Additional IG Karachi the explosions took place in a car parked in the parking lot of a shopping centre in Hydri.
The blast was so intense that it completely destroyed two cars and motorcycle parked near the scene of the blast.
The second blast took place as explosives buried under soil exploded.
According to sources the federal government had intimated the Sindh government in writing that an act of terrorism could take place in Karachi in 36 hours.
