Six women including two children died in a rumpus caused as the followers gathered to pay see and offer reverence to spiritual leader of Hurs, Pir Pagara, in Pir Jo Goth, Khairpur.
According to reports the commotion was caused as smoke filled the partition reserved for women after an electric short circuit.
Bodies of the dead and the injured are shifted to local hospitals.
The sorrowful incident resulted in the closure of business and bazaars while the people of the area are celebrating a somber Eid.
