A looming water crisis is feared to make things much more worse as power crisis continues in the country.
An advisory is issued by the advisor on Climate and Environment Qamar Zaman Chaudhary in this regard.
The advisory says that Tarbella and Mangla dams have not been filled due to lack of rains. In addition, it says, water supply to these dams remained low; snow melting on mountains due to low temperature remained slow and less than normal monsoon rains also resulted in lack of water supply to these dams.
The advisory cautions that there would be an acute shortage of water for crops during the next season and there could also been paucity of potable water in certain areas of the country.
The advisory asks the Water Management Agencies to take immediate measures to meet the challenges arising from the situation.
