Pakistan and India will play three one day matches in December, sources said.
Pakistan cricket team will visit India in December to resume cricket rivalry against the neighboring country, ARY News reported on Monday citing Indian cricket board sources.
The ODIs likely to be played towards the end of the month, during the gap between England ODIs and Tests, reports said.
The two countries have played against each other in the 2011 World Cup and Asia Cup recently, but bilateral series have been suspended for almost five years: the last being held in India in 2007.
Pakistan Cricket Board on Monday swiftly welcomed the first proposed cricket series with India in five years, saying millions of fans would be delighted.
PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf told news channels that Pakistan was still waiting for a formal invitation for the series, but said "it seems it will surely be held later this year".
India's cricket chiefs said they had invited Pakistan for a tour later this year, which would be the first in five years if approved by their governments.
The working committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited Pakistan for the series, likely to be three one-day internationals, in December-January.
"The decision is great and we welcome it. It seems that millions of cricket fans have their wishes fulfilled," said Ashraf in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore.
"We are still waiting for a BCCI invitation for the series, but it seems it will surely be held later this year."
