This Friday will witness the release of Homi Adjania's Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty starrer, Cocktail. Given the popular music, the fresh promos, and with Saif Ali Khan essaying a role that his audiences, especially the youth love, the film is all set to embark on a good start at the multiplexes and good cinemas. In the single screens Cocktail will be affected by the still strong Bol Bachchan.
Last Friday saw the release of Rohit Shetty's Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and Asin starrer, Bol Bachchan. Though the film started on a good to decent note, it picked up pace as the weekend progressed, and continued the good run even during the weekdays. The film is all set to be hit, how big or small, depends on the coming weeks. Bol Bachchan has also done quite well in the overseas grossing £161,100 from UK and $562,000 in the US, during the opening weekend (6-8 July).
After quite an ordinary start Kabeer Kaushik's Maximum went from bad to worse as the days progressed and collected five million from Mumbai, netting a poor three crores during the opening week.
Moving on, Kunal Kohli's Shahid-Priyanka starrer, Teri Meri Kahaani, crashed badly in the second week as it collected 28 crores in two weeks from India and has flopped. Surprisingly the film has done very well in the overseas (good in US), grossing £421,000 from UK and $750,000 from the US till the third weekend (6-8 July).
Meanwhile Anurag Kashyap's Gangs Of Wasseypur saw a quite a stable second week with another 7.50 crores, and has netted over 25 crores in two weeks from India. The Manoj Bajpai starrer is already an above average fare!
Checking out Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Boman-Sharman starrer Ferrari Ki Sawaari, the film is ending its run as it collected another 2.50 crores. Ferrari Ki Sawaari has netted a fair 29 crores in three weeks from India. Unfortunately due to the high price at which it was sold to the global distributor, it is a commercial failure. The film has done well in the overseas and the collections are quite good in the US.
Concluding with Prabhudheva's Akshay-Sonakshi starrer, Rowdy Rathore, after a stupendous run the film is now concluding its act. Adding another 2 crore, Rowdy Rathore has netted 134 crore in five weeks from India and is a blockbuster hit. The film is decent in overseas grossing £441,000 from UK and $777,500 from the US till the sixth weekend (6-8 July).
