Army doctors take charge in Punjab hospitals

 The army doctors have assumed responsibilities in hospitals of Lahore and other areas of Punjab after the provincial government requested for the army's assistance to face strike by stubborn junior doctors.

Punjab’s young doctors’ strike continues for last two weeks while the patients are suffering badly in their absence. Despite hard efforts, the Punjab Government failed to reach on any accord with the strike observing doctors.

The military doctors Monday morning reached hospitals in Lahore and other cities and towns of Punjab to assist the government. Around 90 doctors of the army assumed responsibiliteis at all government hospitals in Lahore, while 60 other military medics have been sent to other areas of the province.

The situation returning to normal in hospitals and emergency, OPD and indoor wards have been opened at the government medical facilities, a government spokesman said.

The Punjab Government has also managed to recruit 454 new doctors so far and they will also report from today (Monday).
