PM not disqualified, says Aitzaz

The counsel of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in the contempt of court case, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has said that majority of Pakistan People's Party leadership was feared that appeal in the contempt case could be harm that's why they did not appeal despite strong case.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in Lahore on Saturday, he said that Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani was convicted in contempt of court case, not in insulting of court case. Appeal could file in the high court not in the Supreme Court, he stated.

Barrister Ahsan said that he was not regretful of judiciary restoration movement, added that, democracy in Pakistan was due to the efforts of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary.

He went on to say that Pakistan People's Party should also accept the services of Chief Justice. He further said that PM Gilani was not disqualified for the next election.
