Following
the improvement in the fuel supply to private power plants, Pakistan
Electric and Power Company has announced to reduce unscheduled
loadshedding in all over the country.
In the wake of this development, the announced load-shedding in urban areas will last for eight to 10 hours, while rural areas will face outages for16 hours.
Sources in PEPCO said that the fuel supply has improved and the short fall between supply and demand has been reduced to 3,600 megawatts.
The sources also claim to reduce unannounced load-shedding in the country, and stated that in next 24 hours, the duration of power-outages in the urban and rural areas will decrease to six and eight hours.
They further said that the government has announced Rs.82 billion term finance certificates to ease the debts of private power plants. This step will help reduce load shedding further, they stated.
