School books under revised curriculum yet to be made available in Punjab

 LAHORE: The new academic year for schools will begin from the next month (April) but new books under the revised curriculum have not yet been made available in the markets, Geo News reported on Tuesday.

The concerned authorities at Punjab Education Department have still not prepared new curriculum for many classes and as a result new books have not been made available in the markets.

According to the Education Department, class III books for Social Studies, Islamiat and Science have been discontinued and replaced with a subject titled General Knowledge. Now a single book of General Knowledge will cover the three subjects that were earlier taught separately.

The curriculum for class IV Social Studies and General Science have been revised.

For class VI, the subject of Social Studies has been replaced with Computer Education, Geography and History. Curriculum for Urdu, Mathematics, Science, Islamiat and Arabic has also been revised for class VI.

The subject of Social Studies has once again been added to the course of class IX but the curriculum of Islamiat has still not been given a final shape.

Changes are also being introduced in Biology and Chemistry for class X.
