Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore was distinctly unimpressed with his team's performance against India, and urged his side to improve drastically for their vital game against Australia, where they must deal with Shane Watson.
India beat the Pakistanis by eight wickets on Sunday, with Virat Kohli's 78 the match-winning knock, and they must now come up against another powerhouse hitter in Watson, who is in imperious form.
The coach said: "There are a number of areas that we are going to have to improve. Sometimes it's better to get back on the horse that bucks you off quickly. We've had only a day between matches, so that's a good thing for us."
Watson, and Australia, are unbeaten in the tournament so far, which is a far cry from their poor form before the event, when they dropped below Ireland in the T20 rankings. Watson is the tournament's top scorer, with innings of 51, 41, 72 and 70.
Whatmore joked of his strategy against Watson: "Maybe poison his food. He is very good and is in good nick. But he is a human being; he can also play a bad shot and get out."
He added: "We have had some reasonable performances against Australia just recently. But they have played very well in the last three weeks or so, in their warm-up games and in this tournament so far. It will be a good test, they are a good side."
The run rates in the groups are crucial at this stage, with all sides still in the running, and Whatmore thinks this is a blessing and a curse, saying: "It's not easy. Any one of three teams can actually still make it.
"It's an organisers' delight, it is fantastic for them and for the spectators, but not for us. It won't be easy to balance the two."
