Amitabh Bachchan on Wednesday contended that his birthday celebrations would be "normal" when he turns 70 on October 11, though reports coming in suggest otherwise.
"It is just going to be a normal birthday celebration for me this year. Birthday celebrations used to be another experience during childhood. Now they are very different," Big B said at a press meet.
Reports, however, contradict the iconic actor's declaration.
Sources state that wife Jaya Bachchan is planning a grand celebration for Big B next Thursday.
A gala is being planned in Reliance Studios at Filmcity in suburban Mumbai, and there is a rumour that Jaya will co-host the party along with friends Anil and Tina Ambani.
Sources claimed three storeys of the building will be dedicated to the event, as there are almost 1,000 guests expected.
Earlier reports had suggested that the big birthday bash would take place at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. However, it turns out the hotel selected by Jaya wasn't available. Hence, the Ambanis offered their spacious studio for the party. A surprise outfit is being styled by Bachchan's favourite designers, Abu Jaani and Sandeep Khosla.
Meanwhile, everyone from politicians and sportstars to Btown celebs wants to be on the guest list of the party.
According to Big B, all the attention his birthday has been garnering in the media has left him embarrassed.
"I am surprised and at times embarrassed by such interest shown," he wrote on a social networking site about the media frenzy over his birthday.
On Wednesday while talking to the press, the superstar also reminisced about his career that spans over 40 years.
"I have acted in so many films and worked with so many different directors. It has been a happy journey and a great learning experience," he said.
What is the one routine that he never fails to follow?" It is my habit to be on time. I like to be punctual and have maintained that habit all through my professional career," Big B replied.
With all the headlines it is making, Big B's birthday bash surely seems set to be Bollywood's event of the year.
