Quetta Carnage: SC dissatisfied over govt report



Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed its dissatisfaction over a report submitted by Defence Secretary Asif Yaseen Malik during hearing of the suo motu notice taken in the aftermath of the recent blast in Quetta.

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was hearing the case.

Interior Secretary Khwaja Siddiq Akbar and the defence secretary were present during today’s hearing.

The court rejected the report saying that the report failed to answer the questions asked by the court and  ordered for it to be re-submitted.

Secretary defence informed the court that the secret agencies don't have reports about all incidents. The ISI conducted 130 operations.

Justice Khilji remarked that the ISI has held the civil administration for the failure in its report. Justice Khilji further remarked that the judiciary want to strengthen the democracy and the parliamentary system but today sit-ins being staged to recall the military.
