Rule of constitution, law must prevail: Nawaz

Updated :   Wednesday  November  7 , 2012  8:12:12 PM

Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Nawaz Sharif saying that complete harmony between all the institutions and pillars of the state is a must for the progress of Pakistan added that this objective could only be achieved when the rule of constitution and law is being ensured.

Pakistan's interests should ride above all other interests, he added.

Everyone has made mistakes in the past, and this include politicians, judges and generals, Nawaz said. However, it is encouraging that these mistakes are being realized today and the supremacy of constitution and law is being accepted, he added.

Pakistani Army is a symbol of the security and defense of the country and attempts to create divisions within its rank goes absolutely against the national interest, Nawaz said.

The judiciary is performing the sacred duty of dispensing justice in the light of the constitution and the law and the lawyers, masses and media raise historic struggle and gave immense sacrifices to help restore a judiciary targeted by a dictator, he added.

Nawaz further said that supremacy of constitution and law was the focal point of the statements of Chief Justice and the Army Chief, and this is reassuring.

Congratulating US President Barack Obama on his fabulous electoral victory Nawaz expressed good wishes to the American people from him and his party. We wish that American people keep on prospering under the leadership of President Obama, he added.
