Pakistan on Thursday paid the sixth tranche of the IMF loan secured under the Standby Program.
The spokesperson of the State Bank confirming the payment to the ARY NEWS said that $ 146.9 million was paid to the IMF in the sixth installment.
Thus far Pakistan has paid back $ 1.54 billion of the $ 8.3 billion loan taken from the IMF under the Standby program in 2008 and 2009.
Pakistan has to pay another installment of around $ 400 million to the IMF on November 23 after which the volume of the loan paid back to the IMF would be over $ 1.93 billion while as per the loan pay-back schedule by January 2013 it would push over $ 2 dollars.
