West Indies is the new World T20 champion

West Indies beat Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the final of the World Twenty20 Cup at R Premadasa stadium, in Colombo.

Windies bowled Sri Lanka allout for 101 runs in 18.4 overs- 36 short of 137 that it scored after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Just three Sri Lanka players managed to score double-digit runs: Jayawerdene 33, Sangakarra 22 and Kulaskara 26. Dilshan was out for a duck.

In its 138-run chase for the coveted World Twenty Cup trophy Sri Lanka kept losing wickets quickly: Dilshan fell at 6; Sangakkara at 48, Mathews 3 runs later, Jayawerdene at 60, Jeevan Mendis one run later, Perera at 64, Thirimanne at 69, Kulasekara at 96, Ajantha Mendis at 100 and Malinga, the 10th Sri Lankan wicket, at 101 runs.

Two Sri Lankan players were run out: Jeevan Mendis and Thisara Perera.

The remaining wight wickets were shared among Narine who bagged 3 of them; Sammy who took 2 and Badree, Rampaul and SAmuels who claimed one victom each.
