Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to be denotified as advisor to PM

Updated 16 minutes ago
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday advised President Asif Ali Zardari to denotify the appointment of Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh as his Advisor.

The advice follows the passage of the 20th Constitutional Amendment Act that validated the election process of members of Senate and National Assembly who were elected after April 19, 2010.

Prime Minister Gilani has advised the de-notification in terms of Article 93 of the Constitution, read with Serial No.10 of Schedule V-B to the Rules of Business, 1973.

The Prime Minister advised the President to discontinue the appointment of Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh as his Advisor, as he has been restored as Minister of Finance, Revenue, Planning and Development, Economic Affairs and Statistics on February 28, the date on which the 20th Amendment came into force.
