ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has reserved the judgement in Babar Awan contempt case which will be announced on March 8, Geo News reported Thursday.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Muhammad Ather Saeed heard the contempt of court case against Babar Awan.

During today's proceedings, Barrister Syed Ali Zafar, counsel for Babar Awan, appeared before the court and said his client never intended of maligning the judiciary.

The SC, on February 20, took the decision to run the video of a press conference addressed by former law minister Babar Awan along with two other sitting ministers on December 1, 2011, in which all the three had categorically rejected the apex court's decision in the memo case.

On January 17, an 11-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry temporarily suspended his practice licence for ridiculing the judiciary.
